Ode to The Greatest Joy

This post is going to be short, just to give you heads up. I was going to write about this past weekend, and the BYU game with the family. But if you wanted to read a detailed account of that, just go to the Stoker's or the McInelly's blog. Jamie and Emma both gave good accounts of the activities that have happened the past few weeks. I just wanted to compile some pictures of some things that Holly and I have done within the past few months that never made it into our blog.

-Jazz Game-

A few months ago Holly and I went to a Jazz game. I forgot how we got tickets, but they were free. We started off in our seats, but at halftime we moved down to the lower bowl. During the game the Jazz Bear was going around and spraying all the bald guys with silly string. I am glad I didn't get sprayed. I am so glad that Holly enjoys sports. She is always up for watching the Jazz game, or hearing me rant about the Red Sox or other sports that are going on. She is soo Cool!!

-Date Night-

This picture is from a few weeks ago. We had made a trip to Ross and both of us picked out a shirt that we wore that night on our date. We ended up going to Iggy's and watching the Olympics and college basketball. My dad gave us his old tri-pod for our camera, and we were fooling around with that. This date actually turned out pretty fun!

We have already been married almost seven months! Time is flying, but we are falling more and more in love with each day. Life Is Awesome!

Volunteers at the MTC

This past Sunday Holly and I had the opportunity to volunteer our time at the MTC. Every Sunday the missionaries have a devotional , so they take volunteers to work at the referral center while the missionaries are gone. The referral center is the station within the Missionary Training Center that coordinates all of the call-ins to the church hotlines. Whenever someone across the world sees a commercial from the church where they can call in to get a free Book of Mormon, Bible, or Finding Faith in Christ video, they call into the referral center. They also make outbound calls to follow up with those who have ordered items, just to make sure they received the item they requested.

It was really neat to be able to serve with my spouse, and be able to bear my testimony to strangers with her about the gospel. It was like she was my companion! We had the opportunity to speak with one man who lived in NYC. He was originally from India, but was now living in NYC. He had requested a Bible a few months earlier, and Holly and I called him to see if he had received it. We ended up speaking to him for a while, and had the opportunity to bare testimony that the Bible was the word of God. I invited him to continue to read it. Later in our conversation, I invited him to study with missionaries and he accepted. It was a pretty neat experience.
I hope that Badu (the man we spoke to) really goes through with what he promised us. His life will forever be changed. I was so glad that Holly and I had that experience together, and that we could share testimony. It really brought me back to the mission days. It was fun!

Roses are Red

Roses are Red

And so are the Sox

My wife gave me the COOLEST V-Day gift EVER

And that’s why she ROCKS!

This year, with the way the dates fell, we weren’t sure when we were going to celebrated Valentine’s Day. We have both been very busy all week with school and work. Holly was especially busy because Orem Floral was preparing for the weekend Holiday and ended up working 40 hours this week! But on Friday I got home from work a few hours before Holly did, so I decided to surprise her then. Because of our busy-ness, our house had gotten pretty messy. As soon as I got home from work, I spent the next few hours cleaning the family room, putting away clothes, and doing dishes. I was having fun watching SportsCenter while I cleaned, and was really anticipating Holly’s face when she saw the place. When she got home, I had a big bouquet of flowers set up on the table. She was so surprised to see the place spotless and the flowers for her. I had her present in an envelope on top of the flowers as well. I thought she would be very tired after this week and need some time to relax, so I got her a massage and full spa manicure from Serenity Spa in Orem.

But the biggest surprise of the night was not when Holly got home. I was so surprised when Holly gave me my gift. She put in so much time, effort and love into what she made for me. AND I LOVE IT. She has been working on my Red Sox quilt since even before we were married. She and my mom started working on it last summer and finished it up a few weeks ago.

This is sooooo cool! I am so thankful that I have such a thoughtful wife and they she cares so much for me!

This makes me so excited for this season! Go SOX!!

Happy Valentines Day!

Wanna Watch an Episode?

This past week was so hectic for Holly and me. We were extremely busy with work, school, and we were just trying to live the dream. Whenever things get so fast paced and we need to slow down and let things unwind, we will always sit down and watch an episode of Prison Break.

I have never been a huge TV watcher. I mean, growing up I was always interested in cartoons on Saturday morning, and I would never regret any time I spent watching Spongebob Squarepants, but let in my life really the only thing I would watch on TV on a regular basis was SportsCenter and other ESPN related shows. So when Holly told me that she loved to watch TV, especially Lost, the OC, Smallville, American Idol, and the Bachelor - of course I was supportive but I wasn't too excited to sit down and watch them with her. But one thing that I have learned from being married so far is that you get out what you put in, and you have to give some to take some. Holly is really good about letting me have time to catch up on sporting news, or watching the big game together. Also, I have started to like to watch the Bachelor with her. But the one TV show that we have enjoyed watching together is Prison Break.
At least once a week we have time to sit down and watch an episode together. It feels so good to relax with your spouse after a long day. Thank goodness we have have each other to get through life.
